75 Years of Porsche in Australia: GO SOUTH in the Porsche Macan 4S

Porsche Cars Australia is celebrating its 75th anniversary with a bold tribute to the landscapes that define our home. Four specially themed vehicles have been styled and specified to reflect the unique environments of Australia, each inspired by a cardinal direction and the breathtaking beauty that surrounds us.

When the first two Australia-bound Porsche sports cars arrived in Melbourne in 1951, company founder Ferdinand Porsche could not have imagined the impact his creations would have on the country’s automotive landscape. To celebrate Porsche‘s 75-year Australian journey, Porsche Cars Australia has chosen four models from its catalogue and combined them with famous elements of the country‘s vast natural landscape.

Unveiled at this year’s Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix, each Porsche in this unique collection – a Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, a Macan 4S, a Taycan 4S Cross Turismo and a Cayenne S – takes its styling and configuration inspiration from iconic settings found in Australia’s north, south, east and west.

“These four cars symbolise the legacy and future of Porsche in Australia,” says Daniel Schmollinger, CEO and Managing Director of Porsche Cars Australia. “They showcase Porsche’s local and global heritage by aligning our timeless design with regional identity, culture, lifestyle and purpose.

“Customers who choose any of these four Porsche models can join our 75-year celebrations by using the Porsche online car configurator to specify their new car inspired by these commemorative specifications. They can also tailor these configurations to suit their individual needs.”

GO SOUTH: Macan 4S

The southern coastlines of Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania – and their memorable scenic roads – were the inspiration for this special Porsche Macan 4S.

Many of Australia’s bronze colour tones can be found here. Watching the sun set at the 12 Apostles reveals transitions that turn these natural stone scuptures from light caramel to gold to brown. It’s a moment of magic that inspired the Paint to Sample Gold Bronze Metallic applied to this unique Macan 4S.

The 22-inch RS Spyder Design wheels finished in Vesuvius Grey also echo many of the southern coast’s other natural stone formations. You can see their symmetry and long spoked structures in the dolerite sea columns that protrude from the waters of the southern Tasman Peninsula, their near-perfect geometric shapes formed from massive volcanic events millions of years ago.

Tasmania retains evidence of glacial landforms near its West Coast Range, a detail reflected in the Glacier Blue Matrix LED main headlights and Glacier Blue light strip in the tail lights.

The optional Off-Road Design package, also finished in Vesuvius Grey, is the perfect uniform for navigating these rugged coastlines. Its sharp and stylish finish contrasts with the ragged coastal borders of southern Australia, which look as if they were torn millions of years ago.

The interior of the Macan 4S takes cues from South Australia’s Limestone Coast, which sweeps north-west from Port Macdonnell near the Victorian border all the way up past Robe and Kingston and west to the coastline from Keith.  This naturally diverse region of volcanic landscapes is famed for its ancient caves, bright Blue Lake and growing conditions for world-famous wines and produce, all thanks to the off-white porous limestone which shares many properties with calcium carbonate, or chalk. It’s the inspiration for the Extended Leather Package in Black / Chalk Beige in the Macan 4S. Chalk Beige has also been specified for the seat belts, compass instrument dial, and power meter.

It’s a moment of magic that inspired the Paint to Sample Gold Bronze Metallic applied to this unique Macan 4S.

Another colour tribute in the Macan’s extended leather interior are the Orange seat centres and decorative upholstery stitching, echoing the coastal snags and rocks that run along the coastal edge at the bottom of Victoria and South Australia.

Along with different Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur details, the GO SOUTH Porsche Macan 4S includes several Porsche Sonderwunsch (‘special request’ personalisation) touches. They include ‘75 Years of Porsche in Australia’ bespoke vehicle keys (with key cases) painted to match the exterior, bespoke interior floor mats embossed with ‘75 Years of Porsche in Australia’, as well as bespoke door sill guards in brushed Aluminium customised with ‘GO South’  logo illuminated.

The silent running of the Macan 4S makes it ideal to enjoy the open-water sounds along Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, one of the regions‘s great drives. With a Porsche AG tested WLTP (vehicle high)driving range from a 100 percent state of charge of 507 km*, the Macan 4S is a sports car driver’s delight in this part of Australia, its many bends and corners ideal for continued battery recuperation.

Porsche Macan 4S

Released in Australia in late 2024, the current generation Macan is the first all-electric SUV from Porsche.

The Porsche Macan 4S is the sporty all-rounder that stands out with its progressive and timeless design, characteristic Porsche performance, long-distance driving range and everyday usability.

The Macan 4S offers drivers a sweet spot between performance SUV driving and everyday versatility.

All-wheel drive performance is delivered by two high-efficiency Permanent Magnet Synchronous (PSM) electric motors – one at each axle – that produces up to 380 kW of Overboost Power with Launch Control and a peak torque of 820 Nm, delivering strong acceleration in conjunction with a single-speed gearbox at the rear axle.

The Performance Battery Plus is a high-voltage lithium-ion unit with a gross capacity of 100 kWh. It works with a battery management system (BMCe, the car’s electrical control centre) to efficiently distribute power between two electric drive motors in the Macan 4S.

The 800-volt architecture allows peak DC charging power up to 270 kW, which means the battery can be charged from 10 percent state of charge (SoC) to 80 percent SoC in approximately 21 minutes at a suitable DC fast-charging station #.

Up to 240 kW of battery recuperation is available and up to 98 percent of the total braking energy can be recovered and used to replenish the battery’s SoC under everyday driving conditions.

The Macan 4S delivers Porsche dynamic handling with its adaptive air suspension that includes Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). Two-valve suspension dampers balance maximum comfort and maximum handling performance, which can be optimised further with the optional Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) feature, which includes a fully variable differential lock.

The Porsche Macan 4S delivers a 0 – 100 km/h time of 4.1 seconds as well as up to 540 litres of volume in its rear luggage compartment and an 84-litre capacity ‘frunk‘, or front storage trunk, under the bonnet. This makes it the ideal sports touring SUV for sports car lovers.

Information provided and images displayed on our websites or links therefrom may relate to models, performance characteristics, optional extras and features only available in overseas models of the vehicle and must not be relied upon as they may be unavailable in Australia. Please note, product changes may have been made since the production of any content. * The published kilometre (km) range is a combined (high) figure based on results from Porsche AG under controlled test conditions conducted in accordance with the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP).  The actual achievable real world km range can be less than the WLTP test result, depending on numerous factors such as speed, traffic and weather conditions, driving habits, elevation change, how much weight the vehicle is carrying, use of vehicle features/accessories such as heating or air-conditioning, and wheels/tyres among others.

# Charging times are based on rates observed during Porsche AG testing on a test vehicle in controlled test conditions using a high speed DC charger for vehicle comparison purposes only. The rates of charge you experience will differ depending on a number of factors such as the ambient conditions, battery size, the amount of charge the battery has and the type of charger. Public DC chargers are typically faster than AC chargers installed at residential premises. We recommend charging to 80 per cent to assist in maximising your vehicle’s battery range and battery life over time.
