Porsche Track Experience brings mid-engined GT4 excitement to Sydney

Porsche Track Experience Australia recently unleashed the 718 Cayman GT4 RS and 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport at Sydney Motorsport Park for the first time, giving Porsche Track Experience customers the opportunity to suit-up and get behind the wheel.

Porsche Track Experience Australia offered graduates from two levels of its advanced driver training program the opportunity to experience two of the most developed, track-focussed sports cars from Porsche: the 718 Cayman GT4 RS and the 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.

Both mid-engined cars featured at the Master GT4 RS (Level 4) and 718 GT4 RS Clubsport (Level 5) Porsche Track Experience programs, which was held at Sydney Motorsport Park on 19 and 20 May. This marked the first time that these two motorsport-derived sports cars tackled Sydney’s premier circuit.

“Porsche Track Experience Australia has a simple philosophy,” said Daniel Schmollinger, CEO and Managing Director of Porsche Cars Australia. “Tell us your driving goal and we ensure that you achieve it. These two special advanced driving programs hone driving skills for maximum performance and can even put you on the road to motorsport competition.”

Master GT4 RS

Level 4 Master GT4 RS offers drivers the ultimate track-based, road car driving experience. Open to graduates from Porsche Track Experience’s Level 3 Performance program, this full-day session focuses on:

  • Following the ideal racetrack line quickly and independently
  • Developing alternative lines
  • Individual laps with one-to-one coaching
  • A driving style assessment and electronic data analysis with an engineer
  • Minimising unwanted load-changing reactions in the car

This program was open to eight participants who experienced the 368 kW Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS, an uncompromising driver’s car that features lightweight construction, an extremely agile chassis set-up and sophisticated aerodynamics.

GT4 RS Clubsport

The Level 5 GT4 RS Clubsport builds on Level 4 with the excitement of driving a factory-built Porsche racing car with individual coaching and engineering guidance.

The full-day program covers:

  • Following the ideal racetrack line quickly and independently
  • Developing alternative lines
  • Individual laps with one-to-one coaching using radio communication
  • A driving style assessment and electronic data analysis with a data engineer
  • Minimising unwanted load-changing reactions in the car
  • In-car video footage

This program accommodated six graduates from the Porsche Track Experience Master GT4 RS and / or Master GT3 RS programs. Their day at Sydney Motorsport Park put them behind the wheel of the 368 kW Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, which Porsche has developed for success in global GT4 competition.

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport is effectively a ‘turn-key’ racing car.

Compared to its non-Clubsport sibling, the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport is effectively a ‘turn-key’ racing car. It boasts significant performance gains thanks to various technical and adjustability enhancements.

Its low weight (1,330 kilograms) is achieved in part from its light-weight front wings, bonnet, doors and front aerodynamic components, all made from natural fibre composites. An advanced dashboard and data logging system are also fitted and ABS, ESC and Traction Control settings are all adjustable from the cockpit. The dampers, spring rates and anti-roll bars are all adjustable as well.

Porsche Track Experience Australia

The Porsche Track Experience advanced driver training program unlocks a driver’s potential behind the wheel using Porsche sports cars in their natural habitat.

The popular program comprises five separate training levels, which begins with Precision (Level 1) and progresses to ever-increasing race-focused driving skills and activities. Each training level is a full-day program.

Participants don’t need to be a Porsche owner. The Porsche Track Experience is open to all drivers who meet the program’s basic requirements.
