By winning the Wimbledon title, Angelique Kerber fulfilled her sporting dream in 2018. Her strong will and irrepressible belief in herself make her a role model for young people far beyond the bounds of sport. Thanks to her magnificent wins at the Australian Open and the US Open, Angelique Kerber became the world No. 1 in 2016 – the first German since Steffi Graf. It was a rise to the top that had been on the cards – in 2014 she led Porsche Team Germany to the Fed Cup final as the team’s No. 1. In 2015 she won four WTA tournaments – including the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart. She became a Porsche Brand Ambassador in the same year.

In 2016, she claimed not only the Grand Slam titles in Melbourne and New York but also successfully defended her title in Stuttgart. At the time, it was the most successful year of her career – she was also the runner-up at Wimbledon, the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and the WTA Finals in Singapore. After ending 2017 without a win, she started the 2018 season with the title in Sydney before crowning her fantastic comeback by winning Wimbledon. In 2016 and 2018, she was voted Sportswoman of the Year in Germany. After the difficult pandemic year of 2020, she caused a stir again in the first half of 2021. She firstly won “her” tournament in Bad Homburg to secure her 13th WTA title and then went on to reach the Wimbledon semi-finals. Her last tournament success for the time being came in Strasbourg in 2022. She intends returning to the tour after taking maternity leave.
