Porsche champions Pascal Wehrlein, Mark Webber and Jörg Bergmeister confirmed for Icons of Porsche this weekend in Dubai

Porsche is again bringing big names to Dubai for the Icons of Porsche festival at the Dubai Design District on November 23-24. Three of the most successful drivers who have won races and championships in Formula E, Sportscars, Carrera Cup, Endurance Racing and Formula One.

Porsche’s motorsport personalities Pascal Wehrlein, Mark Webber and Jörg Bergmeister will be among the VIPs attending Icons of Porsche on November 23-24 at the Dubai Design District.

Reigning Formula E World Champion Wehrlein will be on hand along with his championship-winning Porsche 99X Electric Formula E race car which carried him to the Porsche works team’s maiden championship victory in the all-electric, open-wheeler series.

Wehrlein, who also competed in Formula 1 for two years, joined Porsche in 2020 to contest the Formula E World Championship and is the first German single-seater World Champion since Nico Rosberg won the Formula 1 World Championship in 2016.

Porsche has recently completed its fifth season in Formula E racing the Porsche 99X Electric, which will also be on display at Icons of Porsche. The concept of the innovative electric racing car was developed at the company’s Weissach facility, which operates on a net carbon-neutral basis, and underlines Porsche’s commitment to take a leading role among traditional automobile manufacturers in the areas of electrification, sustainability and technology.

Porsche ambassador Mark Webber is a return visitor to Icons of Porsche, having been on hand during the 2022 event and is keen to return to Dubai to take part once again.

Webber won the 2015 World Endurance Championship for Porsche, driving the Le-Mans-winning 919 Hybrid prototype alongside Timo Bernhard and Brendon Hartley. The Australian is also nine-time Formula One Grand Prix winner.

Another Porsche ambassador making the trip to Dubai is Jörg Bergmeister. The German dominated the American Le Mans Series GT2 class in the early 2000s, winning the title five times in six years.

Bergmeister, also the 2018-19 World Endurance Champion, is a former Porsche Supercup champion. He has regularly been a factory driver for Porsche in major endurance races around the global, taking victories in 911 racing machinery blue riband events including Le Mans, Daytona, Sebring, the Nürburgring, Petit Le Mans and Spa Franchorchamps.

Webber and Bergmeister, as former champions and Porsche ambassadors, are often heavily involved in the testing and development of new Porsche products, some of which will enjoy their world or regional premiere at Icons of Porsche over the weekend.

Mainly active on Instagram & YouTube, he has a Carrera GT, 997 911 Turbo, 997 911 GT3 RS, a Porsche 912 and more in his current collection. It’s safe to say he is a Porsche fan of all eras.

Jowana Burgan is a passionate Mechanical Engineer, dedicated to empowering women in the automotive industry through her initiative, the Girls Mechanic Team, which offers hands-on workshops in car maintenance. At just 21, she has gained recognition by collaborating with major brands and appearing on various news networks, while also serving as MC for events and working on her passion to inspire future female automotive enthusiasts.

Head to ‘The Slab’ at the Dubai Design District this weekend
